Running vCenter Server as a nested VM and with reduced memory is certainly the reason for the slowness. What I do in my lab is to run vCenter Server as a virtual machine directly in VMware Workstation....

If you can, upgrade the RAM to 16GB. Or, consider setting up your home lab on a desktop computer with 16 or 32GB. Most people use 32GB for their home labs.8GB really don't cut it for a product designed...

The only suitable options I have found so far is vSphere Standard license, but that is too expensive for just 1 VM considering that the physical host has 2 CPUs and I will need two licenses.
