New vShpere Hypervisor and Backup Question

Hi Community,

we are planing to upgrade our IT Infrastructure in the next months and I want to go with VMWare vSphere Hypervisor.

We had VMWare ESXi 3,5 a few years ago and for the last few years we are using 2 Microsoft HyperV Hosts (still 2008 R2 )

Due to may reasons I want VMWare back
We are going to buy also new Server Hardware and finally we will just have 2 Physical Servers with 1 CPU in each Server (2 Sockets in each Server).

My question is now; a vShpere Essential Kit License should be ok for it right?
If so, and I go with the Essential Kit, can I also use the Veeam Backup and Replication FREE VERSION to Backup the Guest Servers with VeeamZIP via Powershell Scripts?

I currently use it to Backup HyperV Virtual Servers and its running perfect for me so I hope I can modify and use the scripts also for the vSphere Essential Guests
or is there a limitation in the License of the Essetial Kit or Veeam Backup??

I remember, there was a limitation with ESXi 3,5 so I was not able to take backups via Veeam Backup Free Editon years ago but I can´t remember exactly what it was...

I will try it anyway, but if I use the Free Version of the vShpere Hypervisor is the Veeam Backup Free Version also doing Backups of the Guests? I

if yes, this would be perfect for me for testing!!

ThxTS
