Hi folks,
Yesterday for the first time we installed the plain 5.5 ESXi Hypervisor on a host that previously ran ESX v4.1 (clean install), not upgrade.
I installed the 5.5.0 vSphere client and tried to connect to the host. And I got this error:
vSphere client could not connect to x..x.x.x. An unknown connection error occured (the client could not send a complete request to the server (the underlying connection was closed. An unexpected error occured on a send))
I saw on this forum that restarting the Managerment Agents has been suggested as a solution. I tried it with no luck.
This is very frustrating, I can't even connect to the server. Needless to say I can ping it fine. In DCUI syslog I see a "pam_unix ..... authentication failure" indication. The password I use is 100% correct.
(On top of that, when I try to use the 5.5 client to connect to another ESX 4.1 host, I get a popup that asks me to download the 4.1 client, so I guess I need to have TWO clients, one for each host! Can I have both on the same WinXP PC? Or do they conflict? )
Please help
George
